I was just talking to a good friend of mine since I first arrived in Taiwan. This girl I respect almost above all others because of her intelligence, her zest for life and her natural quiet strength. Over the years we have had many a conversation and every time we meet up we had a laugh. She has introduced me to a lot of friends and has shown me what life is like if you just concentrate on the positives…..

 

…..but…..

 

…I was talking to her today. She seemed a little different. That’s when I found out that she had an accident last month and just arrived home after a month in hospital. She doesn’t remember much. Actually she doesn’t remember anything of the accident all she knows is that she almost died. She had brain surgery. She is really confused. Everything in the past 3-5yrs or however long I have known her is mixed up. It’s really weird talking to her. She has forgotten her bf of 3 yrs that she only recently broke up with or that’s what she told me in a conversation that I had with her just a week earlier that she can’t remember! She is mixed and scared, but thinks she is ok…..it’s a really weird feeling. I know this is one girl that doesn’t deserve it. And it’s kind of painful to think that she has lost a lot of her edge. And they don’t know if or when it will return….

 

I can only wish her the best of luck and hope she pulls through…
